About The Comparison Wizard

A one-person research project dedicated to helping you pick the right software — without hype, without fluff, without guessing.

What This Is

The Comparison Wizard is a small, independent site built by me, Oran. I started it in 2024 because I was frustrated by how hard it is to find an honest answer to a simple question: "Which tool should I use?"

Most review sites bury you in affiliate noise, generic top-10 lists, and sponsored rankings. I wanted to create something I'd actually trust myself — a site that helps real people make faster, better software decisions with clear comparisons and genuine recommendations.

That's it. There's no lab, no team of analysts, no AI research division. Just one person researching tools, testing them where I can, and writing up what I find.

Who's Behind This

Oran — Founder & Sole Editor

I've spent years working with software tools across marketing, operations, and product — evaluating what works in practice, not just on paper. The Comparison Wizard is my way of sharing that experience publicly.

I research, test, compare, and write every article on this site. When I can't test a tool hands-on, I say so. When a tool has weaknesses, I highlight them. The goal is usefulness, not persuasion.

How I Evaluate Tools

My process is straightforward and honest about its limits:

Hands-on testing

I sign up for tools, use them for real tasks, and take notes on what works, what's clunky, and where the value is. No simulations or lab environments — just practical use.

Feature & pricing research

I track feature sets, pricing tiers, and changes over time. Pricing links include affiliate codes where applicable — explained in my affiliate disclosure.

Community & user signal

I read user reviews, support forums, and social discussions to surface common pain points and workarounds that short trials won't reveal.

Ongoing updates

Software changes fast. I revisit comparisons periodically and note the date of last review so you know how fresh the information is.

A Note on Independence

Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up for a tool through them, I may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you.

Rankings and recommendations are never paid for. If a tool stops being useful, it gets a lower rating or gets removed, regardless of any relationship. I don't accept sponsored posts or paid placement.

This site is a side project, not a corporation. The income from affiliate links helps cover hosting and research time, but it's small-scale and always will be secondary to honest recommendations.
